Achievement of this competency is demonstrated by indicators such as:
- building the capacity of teachers to respond to the learning needs of all students;
- implementing professional growth, supervision and evaluation processes to ensure that all teachers meet the Teaching Quality Standard;
- ensuring that student instruction addresses learning outcomes outlined in programs of study;
- facilitating mentorship and induction supports for teachers and principals, as required;
- demonstrating a strong understanding of effective pedagogy and curriculum;
- facilitating the use of a variety of technologies to support learning for all students;
- ensuring that student assessment and evaluation practices are fair, appropriate and evidence-informed;
- interpreting a wide range of data to inform school practice and enable success for all students; and
- facilitating access to resources, agencies and experts within and outside the school community to enhance student learning and development.
I have met this competency by:
- working with schools to develop their school improvement plans, based on both qualitative and quantitative data;
- led staff through data analysis PD;
- designed and facilitated 'Data-Informed Approach to School Improvement Planning' for administrators;
- worked with fellow LRSD School Improvement Coaches and Senior Leaders to design LRSD Divisional Growth Plan;
- meet monthly with the school I coach to assist with school improvement data analysis, goals and achievement implementation;
- filming a professional development on The 8th Habit (Franklin Covey) with Muriel Summers, Molly Garcia and the Leader in Me Weekly team.
- facilitating Leader in Me Core 2 Training;
- ensuring there are proactive, planned PD planned for our Stavely days;
- 2022-23 consultant for Alberta Assessment Consortium. I taught the following sessions: Assessment 101, Formative Assessment Foundations, The 25% Rule for Assessing, Stop Summatively Assessing Everything, 4-Step Assessment Process. I also provided a specialized PD session for Lethbridge School Division Middle School Administrators on Outcomes Based Assessment and Report Card Comments.
- LRSD Division Leader in Me Coach and Division Lighthouse Team Member;
- nominated two of our teachers to be apart of SAPDC curriculum design days and both were accepted (of a total of four in our division);
- consistently and regularly conducting classroom observations;
- evaluating teachers when required;
- providing timely feedback to teachers and education assistants;
- facilitated Teacher2Teacher mentorship program;
- encouraged teachers that demonstrate leadership skills to participate in LRSD Inspiring Leadership course;
- regularly follow-up with teachers' daily plans, unit plans, year plans and assessment plans and provide feedback, exemplars and suggestions as necessary;
- demonstrate a variety of effective pedagogies in my own classes and professional development inservices;
- ensured all staff completed 'The Science of Reading';
- work with staff to purchase software that leverages learning and evaluate how often students effectively use it;
- work collaboratively with SLP, OT, PT, Inclusion Foothills, AHS, Kent Hollingsworth, Stavely Playschool, Stavely FCSS;
- collaborated with Retire Master Corporal Herb Johnson for our Remembrance Day Ceremony, Janice Binmore at the Stavely Museum; Claresholm Aquatic Center and numerous community members, yearly, for our Passion Projects;
- ensured staff received PD in literacy to address COVID gap.
