I believe I have demonstrated achievement of this competency by:
- LRSD School Improvement Coach
- Implemented The Leader in Me;
- LRSD Leader in Me Coach;
- Provided multiple opportunities for staff and students to lead within our school and division;
- Facilitated The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to my staff and new teachers in LRSD;
- Facilitated Core 1, 2 and 3 training;
- Providing opportunities for my staff to leverage their strengths. Two of my staff (LRSD sent four staff in total) were chosen to join the SAPDC Curriculum Implementation PD and then share their learning with LRSD staff divisionally.
- Encouraging staff that are demonstrating leadership qualities to engage in LRSD Inspiring Leadership Professional Development.
- Encouraging exemplary teachers to mentor first year teachers and student teachers.
- Initiated Public Speaking opportunities for the entire school (2022);
- Developed Stavely School Rights and Responsibilities document with input from all leaders in our building;
- Ensuring that students, parents and staff are familiar with Ministerial Order on Student Learning and it's impact on education.
- Whenever applicable, I have ensured that appropriate staff or other stakeholders are familiar with Alberta Education Policies. For example, when we hired our new Learning Support teacher, I took time to critically examine the Inclusive Education policy (which had already been reviewed by our staff).
- Ensuring that staff are repeatedly linking pedagogy and assessment back to Alberta Education's Student Competencies and programming for student learning accordingly.
- Volunteering with our students to collect food for the local food bank.
- Understanding that the global market does not work in isolation, I have provided instructional leadership to staff to encourage group work and synergy, which would allow our students to easily transition to the current work-world.
