Managing School Resources​

A leader effectively directs operations and manages resources.

Leadership Quality Standards
Achievement of this competency is demonstrated by indicators such as:
  1. Identifying and planning for areas of need;
  2. Applying principles of effective teaching and learning, child development and ethical leadership to all decisions;
  3. Aligning practices, procedures, policies, decisions and resources with school and school authority visions, goals and priorities;
  4. Following through on decisions made by allocating resources (human, physical, technological and financial) to provide the learning environments and supports needed to enable and/or improve learning for all students;
  5. Facilitating access to appropriate technology and digital learning environments; and
  6. Ensuring operations align with provincial legislation, regulations and policies, and the policies and processes of the school authority.

I believe I have demonstrated achievement of this competency by:
  • ensuring all of my staff provide a recent vulnerable sector check to LRSD CO;
  • planning the budget;
  • adhering to the budget;
  • completing and submitting Quarterly Reports;
  • completing and submitting enrolment projection;
  • working with contractors et al. to add our modular addition to our school;
  • effectively working with community agencies, such as PAC and Rec Board, to use allocated dollars to enhance student programming and learning opportunities;
  • planning and utilizing the nutrition budget;
  • working with Greg Gorzitza to maintain Stavely School's physical properties;
  • working with Town of Stavely to maintain Stavely School as necessary;
  • working with the community (PAC, library board) as locked doors are installed;
  • ensuring staff complete their OH&S modules;
  • working with the staff, students and community as the new lights were installed;
  • consulted with Kathy Charchun to achieve a better understanding of Stavely School budget history;
  • consulted with Wes Wescott to achieve a better understanding of the budgeting process;
  • scheduled, administered and reflected on regular safety drills;
  • created Stavely School Safety Plan;
  • consulted with Jordan Gunderson when necessary;
  • refer back to Education Act every three months for amendments;
  • member of Admin Procedures/Policies Committee to ensure I have a deep understanding of all administrative and board procedure and policies;
  • work closely with Stavely emergency agencies to have procedures in place in the event of an emergency.
